  7.    I would like to take this opportunity to introduce NativeNet, the Native
  8. American news and information network.  NativeNet is a computer network
  9. dedicated to news, issues, and cultural information regarding North America's
  10. Indigenous populations.  This network is geared toward any Native American
  11. with access to a modem.  Although NativeNet was designed for and by Native
  12. Americans, non-natives with genuine concern and interest in Native affairs
  13. are welcomed to join in numerous areas.

  15.    NativeNet provides a wide range of topics and areas of interest. For the
  16. serious minded you can find out the latest in Native legal affairs on Nations
  17. battling the dominant society over concerns such as treaty rights, land
  18. rights and international law, or find out about current conditions on
  19. reservations and historical perspectives.

  21.    For those looking for cultural material, NativeNet offers discussions and
  22. information sharing relating to tribal language, native stories, poetry and
  23. legends.  You can also hookup and find out about upcoming pow wows,
  24. celebrations and gatherings and conferences.

  27. opportunities to job listing and business development, NativeNet provides

  29. tribes help each other while becoming self-sufficient and increasing self-

  33. to political exchanges and cultural beliefs.  Information is available on
  34. issues from the U.S., Canada,  South America, Australia, Africa and Europe.

  36. who not only know Native affairs but live them every day.

  38.    NativeNet is also a wonderful choice for schools, universities and the
  39. media.  The current news and information is a welcomed addition to Native
  40. studies because it provides an up-to-date and current look at what is
  41. happening in Indian Country.  Outdated school books and primers can't compare
  42. to today's news . . . today.

  44.    NativeNet DEPENDS ON YOU!  NativeNet is also looking for new information
  45. from Indian Nations not currently using our network.  The more information
  46. and nations that utilize this network, the more productive and informed our
  47. Native people can be.  Sharing information, relating to cultural, legal
  48. matters, education, etc., will help to unite Native people and provide a
  49. wider base  of information to draw from.  Any ideas or suggestions on this
  50. matter are greatly appreciated.

  52.    NativeNet is a cost-sharing network and the average cost to join a
  53. Bulletin Board System (BBS) is $20 per year (many are free of charge).  The
  54. NativeNet network is growing all the time and more and more information is
  55. coming over the echos. From Alaska to Florida, California to New Jersey, Native
